For Art Cologne 2023, Ruttkowski;68 invites you to embark on a journey to and through the realms of contemporary art and its manifold perspectives.
Sundry lenses of miscellaneous approaches, span a field for personal resonance where Antwan Horfee, Carolin Eidner, Conny Maier, Dennis Buck, Eva Beresin, Fabian Treiber, Francesco Igory Deiana, Henrik Godsk, Jårg Geismar, Joakim Ojanen, Lars Eidinger, Mathias Weinfurter, Michael Günzer, Monica Kim Garza, Philip Emde, Prosper Legault, Stefan Marx and Stefan Strumbel
deconstruct, reshape and transform elements drawn from individual accesses to contemporary conditions and the processing of cultural imprints.
Some works whisper with calm restraint, revealing their concealed sequels upon closer inspection. Others burst forth with contagious energy, intensively echoing the ever-changing world around us. Together they create a profound presence that incites mutual enhancements of intertwined references and their relations.

How do we experience art in the museum and how do we encounter it in public space? In the museum, art is in a protected space. In the city, it takes the step into the public sphere and becomes visible to everyone:
Art is thus part of our everyday life, a topic of discussion, perhaps even of dispute - it is exposed to many opinions, and it can enliven and define places in a completely new way.
The exhibition Vor Ort shows works by 7 artists, each of whom has realised or will realise a work of art in public space in Göppingen: Iris Andraschek, Katharina Hohmann, Stefan Rohrer, Markus Strieder, Stefan Strumbel, Nasan Tur and Silke Wagner.

In 2010, as a tribute to his deceased friend, the Dj Sven Ruttkowski, Nils Müller opened the first gallery space in his former apartment at Bismarckstrasse 68.
Today, more than ten years later, five dependencies bear Rutte’s name, his year of birth, and his house number, preserving a piece of memory. From Cologne to Düsseldorf to Paris to New York—each of these locations has developed its own character and has a spatial composition that embeds the respective artistic universes differently.
Ruttkowski;68 captures a genre-spanning versatility that questions and illuminates boundaries of disciplines and categories to give space to artistic positions. This openness makes each collaboration an experiment, an attempt to challenge and expand the concept of art through radical authenticity.
The immanent impossibility of clearly defining its meaning, let alone verbalizing it, catalyzes the notion of the present in contemporary art as taken up by Ruttkowski;68. Strong visual positions that emerge from sub- and popular culture of history and the current zeitgeist are elementary components of their mentality—as are long-term relationships between artists, collectors, and the people behind the scenes who ensure that Ruttkowski;68 can exist.
This book gives insight into the constitution of the gallery, the most exciting exhibitions of the last ten years, and lets its artists, friends, and supporters have their say.

SST/S 2017_02/2 …..In the Western-Christian context - traditional visual language - the work evokes a representation of Mary with the Christ child on her arm. But it is important for Strumbel to leave these connotations open. For the closeness and intimacy that mother and child imply is a general human experience to which Strumbel has consciously referred again and again in his artistic examination of the term "home". Lupo`s material creates a shelter that is given to this small group. It is noticeable, however, that the bubble wrap is not so much wrapped around the bodies as a protective wrapping, but is more like a garment in folds, particularly striking in the area of the woman`s head, because the folding of the wrap to the side of the head is reminiscent of a headscarf. The wrapping and wrapping with cloth and the resulting wrinkling have played an important formal and often content-related role in sculpture since antiquity.
By completely covering the figures under the foil and not titling the work, the artist allows the viewer the greatest possible openness and freedom of vision and imagination. Whether one feels reminded of a burka wearer or of a Maria with Christ Child and sees her in it, lies entirely in the individual`s visual experiences and habits. The Christian churches have a hard time dealing with contemporary art. Strumbel shows in his work that it is possible to give new impulses to Christian themes through a contemporary artistic language. It is not only the durability of the material, but also the openness to diverse perspectives that enables the work to pass on its understanding to future generations.
